Mary Rose Zens' Obituary
Racine-Mary Rose Zens, 68, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on November 17, 2019.
Mary was born to Glenn and Eleanor (nee: Braun) Burge on November 3, 1951, in Racine. She was united in marriage to Paul Zens on December 11, 1971, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Racine.
Mary was a lifelong member of St. Edward Catholic Church. She was a loving, dedicated wife and mother. Mary was also a longtime member of Preservation Racine, committed to the retention and preserving of historical landmarks. She was a talented basket maker and weaver. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She’s resting now after a 15 year battle with COPD.
Left to cherish Mary’s memory is her loving husband, Paul; children: Brian, Crystal, David, and Rebecca (John) Bohn; grandchildren: John Paul and Maxwell Bohn; mother, Eleanor Burge; sisters: Barb (Jim) Kleppin, Rita (Mike) Zybora, and Eileen (Steve) Matelski; uncle, Bernard (Patricia) Braun; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Glenn Burge.
Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the Wilson Funeral Home on Monday, November 25, 2019, from 5 pm until 7 pm. A funeral mass for Mary will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at 10 am. An additional time of visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9 am until the time of mass. Mary’s final resting place will be St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Edward Catholic Church (1425 Grove Ave, Racine, WI 53405) and/or any organization or charity of your choice in Mary’s name.
