Mary Paul Sys' Obituary
Mary Paul Sys, age 95, passed away on April 30, 2017 at The Woods of Caledonia.
On October 17, 1921, Mary was born to Harry and Molly (nee Campbell) Maysian in Racine, Wisconsin. She was educated in area schools and graduated from Horlick High School in 1940.
Mary was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Racine. She belonged to the TOPS club and enjoyed playing card games with friends and family. Mary was an avid crotchetier, and would be able to quickly make blankets for various occasions. She enjoyed playing the piano by ear. Above all, Mary was a very family oriented person who never missed the opportunity to send cards and greetings to family members for special occasions.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Jane (Mark) Reeves, Gary Paul, and Joel Sys; her grandchildren: Melissa (Matt) Paul-Tobias and Robert Jay Nichols; sisters: Abbygail Jackson and Joyce Cook; nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Molly Maysian; her husband, Joseph Sys; her daughter-in-law, Karen Sys, and three sisters: Zarta Canter, Jean Combs, and Helen Kraus.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave.) on Sunday, May 7, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. with Rev. Charles Anderson officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service. The family has suggested Hospice Alliance for memorial donations.
