Mary Ann Sucharda's Obituary
Mary Ann Sucharda passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016 surrounded by her family just 22 days shy of her 90th birthday.
She was born in Racine, WI on November 27, 1926 to Einer and Anna (Lachnitt) Sorensen. At age three, after her mother’s death, she made her home with her aunt and uncle, Mary and Arthur Ove. Her cousins, Marie, Ruth and Lois were sisters to her. They were a wonderful family, and all have preceded her in death.
Mary Ann graduated from Washington Park High School in the class of 1945. She was always very proud of her years working at Johnson Wax. In 1950, she married Bill Sucharda and raised two daughters. Bill preceded her in death in 1974. Mary Ann retired from Multi Products in 1988. Her best times were always with her family and they enjoyed many memorable trips together. She also loved times spent with her sister, Liz, and the Green Bay gang. Mary Ann lived in her house on Deane Blvd for 60 years and for the last four years at Lake Oaks.
Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law: Mary and Tom Krohn of Racine and Terry Sucharda Webb and Jerry Webb of Waukesha; her darling granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Kristen and Christopher Burkard of Tucson, AZ. She was thrilled to have one great-grandson, Aiden, who gave her five years of joy. Mary Ann is also survived by her dear sister, Elizabeth Johnston of Green Bay; niece, Julie (Norm) Joppe of Green Bay, and nephew, Tim (Cheri) Johnston of Oconto Falls and the rest of the Green Bay gang: Nicole, Tim, Grace, Alaina, Dan, Shelly, Evan, Jake and Joe. She will also be affectionately remembered as “Meme” to Lisa, Mel, Sydney and Spencer Smith and Christine Webb. She was preceded in death by her brother, James Sorensen and niece, Jamie Johnston.
A celebration of Mary Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Communion Lutheran Church (2000 W 6th St, Racine, WI) with Pastor Laura Fladten officiating. A time of visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested that memorials be made to the Holy Communion Lutheran Church Thanksgiving Food Drive. Online condolences may be made at www.wilsonfuneralhomeinc.com
