Mary Johnson's Obituary
Mrs. Johnson, 89, passed away at her home on Thursday, January 11, 2007. She was born in Racine on Dec. 4, 1917 to the late Guy and Bessie (nee: Jenkins) Foxwell. She lived all of her life in Racine. She was united in marriage to Walter L. Johnson on Oct. 7, 1935 in Waukegan, Ill. He preceded her in death on April 27, 2000.
She was employed as a receptionist for Dr. Vernon Burch for many years. She was a very active member of Christ Church United Methodist Church and Women's Circle of the church. Mary and her late husband Wally cared for over 60 foster children.
She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Walter D. and Ruth Johnson of Bedford, VA, Steven and Laura Johnson of Racine, David and Amy Johnson of Monroe, Tom and Carol Johnson of Racine, three daughters, Barbara Larson of Ephraim, UT, Rachel Keilholz (Richard Heffel), Katie and Efrain Navarro all of Racine, 38 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Dorothe Foxwell and Edith Olson. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Louise in 1972 and by five brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at Christ Church United Methodist 5109 Washington Ave., on Monday, January 15, 2006 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Awilda Nolla officiating. Interment will follow at Mound Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
