Mary Joan Christensen's Obituary
Sturtevant - Mary Joan Christensen, 76, passed away at home on the evening of Thursday, June 6, 2024, with her husband by her side.
Mary was born to the late John and Hazel (nee Bellant) Brown on June 7, 1947, in St. Ignace, Michigan. She was united in marriage to Daniel Christensen on July 21, 1984. Mary worked at Interment in Sturtevant for 27 years.
Mary found great joy in oil painting, capturing the beauty of the world around her with a brush in hand. Her art was a testament to her vibrant spirit and artistic talent. A true lover of music, Mary was often found with the comforting melodies of country music filling her home. The simple, heartfelt tunes mirrored her own down-to-earth and genuine personality.
Mary's love for life extended to her cherished hobbies, including watching WWE wrestling with her devoted husband, Dan. Their shared excitement and joy during these moments brought them closer, creating lasting memories. Mary's fondness for unicorns and horses was well-known among her friends and family. Her collection of unicorn figurines and horse memorabilia brought her immense joy and reflected her whimsical and adventurous spirit. An avid sunbather, Mary loved nothing more than to spend sunny afternoons tanning in her backyard.
Mary's life was a tapestry of love, joy, and creativity. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her kindness, her vibrant spirit, and her boundless enthusiasm for the things she loved.
Mary will be deeply missed by her loving husband, Dan Christensen; son, David John Lewis; siblings: Lawrence (Rosemary) Brown, Theresa (John) Robinson, Anne Brown (Jim Scholzen), Nora (Mark) DeKeuster, Ruth McCord, and Mary (Dan) Erikson; in-laws: Gail (Tom) Minneti and Paulette Christensen; best friends: Rebecca Orth of Glendale, Arizona, and Joanne Yost of Racine, Wisconsin; along with many other relatives and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her sister, Frances (Cal) Leavitt.
Per Mary’s wishes, no services will be held.
