Mary Jane Andersen's Obituary
Racine – Mary Jane (nee: Myrmel) Andersen, 88, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Friday, January 16, 2015.
Mary was born in Racine to the late Anton and Emelia (nee: Walla) Myrmel on April 14, 1926. She was united in marriage to Robert Neil Andersen at Gospel Tabernacle of Racine on August 21, 1948.
Mary was a faithful member of 75 years at Calvary Memorial Church and a longtime active member of the church choir, missions groups, the church kitchen crew, and youth ministries. Mary briefly worked at Gateway Technical College as a part-time teacher of cake decorating and hostess tips, while independently decorating cakes. Mary later worked at Greene Glass, and after 13 years with the company, she retired in January of 1987 to do what she loved most; take care of her beloved family.
Mary will be dearly missed by her husband of 66 years, Robert N. Andersen; children, Susan (Gary) McLain, Robert W. (Laurie) Andersen, David (Bonny) Andersen, Barbara (Steve) Mauer, Julianne (Jack) Bell and Nancy (Doug) Hastings; grandchildren, Erinn (Kris), Jamison (Stephanie), Jayson (Brittany), Scott (Rachel), Jake (Leah), Jodi (David), Jennie (Jason), JoAnna (Josh), Jordan (Kate), Leah, Mac, Alex, Hayley (Brady), Paul and Melissa; great-grandchildren, Cooper, Lucas, Noah, Brooklyn, Anna, Madelyn, Sawyer, Luke, Elizabeth, Sullivan, Jonah and Will; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Emelia (nee: Walla) Myrmel, brothers, “Babe”, Elmer, and Art Knudsen; and a grandson, Douglas W. Hastings Jr.
Funeral services in honor of Mary will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Avenue, on Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Nathan James officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 9:00 AM until service time. Memorials may be directed to Calvary Memorial Church missions.
