Martha Theresa Carreno's Obituary
Racine – Martha Theresa (nee Oteman) Carreno, 90, passed away on Monday, October 16, 2023, at Ascension All Saints Hospital.
Martha was born in Racine to George and Genevieve (nee Langenfeld) Oteman on February 10, 1933. She was a graduate of St. Catherine’s High School. Martha was united in marriage to Ruben Carreno.
Martha was first employed by Hamilton Beach. Later, she worked many years in banking as a customer service manager at First Interstate Bank. Before retiring at the age of 65, she enjoyed being a sales representative for AAA Insurance.
Martha was a longtime, faithful member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, watching the Brewers and Packers, and adored women’s college basketball. She was an avid bowler, participating in women’s bowling leagues. Martha was an absolute animal lover, caring for and feeding squirrels, chipmunks, and birds to name a few. She loved her many cats over the years and her special granddogs: Dolly and Bitsy.
Martha will be dearly missed by her sons: Gregory (Colleen) Carreno, and Stephen (Bonny) Carreno; grandsons: Seth and Aaron; one brother and two sisters: George (Mary Lou) Oteman, Carolyn Kramer, and Elaine Barry; special niece, Cristina Mondragon; along with other nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Martha was preceded in death by Gregory and Stephen’s father, Ruben Carreno; daughter, Elizabeth “Liz” Carreno; infant daughter, Jennifer Marie Carreno; one brother and two sisters: David Oteman, Mary Zimprich, and Jeanne Hanson.
A memorial service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, October 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM.
The family of Martha would like to thank the staff at Elizabeth Gardens Assisted Living for the lovely hospitality and to all the staff that compassionately cared for her at Ascension All Saints Hospital.
