Marjorie Johnson's Obituary
Mt. Pleasant - Marjorie L. Johnson, 84, passed away Thursday, evening, May 24, 2007, in the home of her son and daughter-in-law (her caretakers), Michael and Gail Johnson, and was surrounded by family when the Lord called her home.
Marjorie was born to Frederik and Violet (nee: Smiley) Rasmussen on April 30, 1923 in Kankakee, Illinois. On December 9, 1940, Marjorie married Claude Johnson in Davenport, Iowa. They made their home in Racine following their marriage.
Marjorie was a member of First Evangelical Free Church. She loved being with her family and her many, many friends. She always had a listening ear for all and could always get you to laugh. She was such a wonderful, kind, and gentle mother and friend to all. Our mother touched many, many lives and everyone that knew her, loved her. We were truly blessed by God to have her as our mother, our grandmother, our great-grandmother, our step-grandmother, our step-great-grandmother, and our friend. She will be deeply missed, but not forgotten, as her love and memories will always be in our hearts.
Marjorie was the beloved mother of Ralph (Arlete) Johnson of Buffalo Grove, Illinois, Judith (George) Monday of Neenah, Michael (Gail) Johnson of Mt. Pleasant, and Cheryl (Donald) Steidl of Racine. Marjorie was the proud and loving grandmother of ten grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Claude Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 30, 2007 at 11 am with Rev. John Bodnar officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family on Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 4 until 7 pm and on Wednesday morning from 10 until service time. Memorials may be made to First Evangelical Free Church or to one's favorite charity.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for their gentle and loving care each time she was in the hospital. A very special thank you to Colleen (rehab nurse), Amy (therapist), Chris (nurse with Wheaton Franciscan Home Healthcare), Sandy (chaplain), and all the hospice nurses.
