Marjorie Alice Chevis' Obituary
Racine—Marjorie Alice Chevis (nee: Chopyak), 96, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.
Marjorie was born on April 11, 1919 to John and Veronica (nee: Matala) Chopyak in Racine. She was married to Julius Chevis until his passing in 1977. Marjorie was a charter member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. She also owned and operated “Ann’s Smart Wear”, her women’s clothing store in West Racine for many years.
Marjorie will be dearly missed by Al (Norma) Exner, Donald Exner, D. Jane Schieffer, Nancy L. Higgins, Mary Jo Garcia, and Rick (Haroleen) Chopyak. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Veronica; her husband, Julius; sisters, Helen Vojtko, Mary Malinoski, and Ann Evanou; brothers, John Chopyak, and Harry Chopyak; and her nephew, John Alan Chopyak M.D.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Marjorie will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church at 11 AM with Father Terry Huebner officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Highway 32.
