Mario N. Rivera
GARLAND, TX- Mario N. Rivera, 94, passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the Rockwall Nursing Care Center in Rockwall, TX.
Mario was born in Rio Grande City, TX on April 9, 1921, son of the late Hilario and Josefa (nee: Carrion) Rivera. During World War II he served in the US Army, stationed in Germany. In October of 1941 Mario was united in marriage to the late Dominga Zuniga. In 1952, the family moved to Racine, WI. In 1984, after 30 years, he retired from Peter Cooper Corp. in Oak Creek and moved back to Rio Grande City, TX. Mario will be remembered as a man of many talents and for his strong work ethic. He was highly respected by many, especially his family and friends.
Survivors include his children, Hilda (Bill) Morris of Garland, TX, Thelma (Edward) Harper, Josefa Munoz, Maria Hessel of San Antonio, TX, and daughter-in-law, Gloria (Guardiola) Rivera. He is further survived by two sisters, Ofelia Ramirez and Aurora Garza; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mario was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dominga; his son, Mario N. Jr.; and son-in-laws, Thomas Hessel and Richard Munoz.
Funeral services for Mario will be held on Monday, January 4, 2016 at 12:00 pm at Wilson Funeral Home. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 11:00 am until the time of service at 12:00 pm. Father Jerry Hessel will officiate. Following the service, Mario will be buried at West Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors. Condolences may be expressed at www.wilsonfuneralhomeracine.com.
