Celebrating the Life of Our Queen, Mariah Louise Strickland
Mariah departed this life at Ascension All Saints Hospital on Sunday, February 14, 2021.
Mariah Louise Strickland, was born on February 10, 1934 in Spring Creek (Brickeys), AR. She was born to the union of Robert Anderson and Jeanette Hall.
Mariah moved to Chicago where she became an active member of Unity Church under the leadership of Dr. Johnnie Coleman. She attended college and accepted a position with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) where she retired after 25 years.
Following retirement, Mariah became an entrepreneur of products for healthy living. In her spare time, she also worked at Alpha 1 Merchandising. Mariah was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She found joy in making ceramics and playing the lottery. Mariah loved spending time with her family and caring for her pets, especially her parrot named Sindbad.
Queen Mariah leaves to cherish her loving memories to her daughter Edwina Eldridge (Robert); grandchildren: Timothy E. Savage (Roshunda) and Angela N. Hampton; great-grandchildren: Ailani Savage, Tamika Savage, and Shyann Stewart; brother, Randy Jackson; Roshunda’s children: Icy, Gabriel, Josiah, and Messiah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Mariah is preceded in death by her sisters Izetta Thomas and Willie Mae Cole.
A memorial service in honor of Mariah will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at 12:00 P.M. Online condolences can be shared and flowers for Mariah may be donated at www.wilsonfuneralhomeinc.com.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at DaVita Dialysis and Ascension All Saints Hospital, especially to Holly and Danielle for their loving care of Mariah.
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, only 50 people will be allowed to enter the funeral home at a time. Guests may be required to wait outside until others leave the funeral home. Anyone planning on attending Mariah’s memorial service will be required to wear a face covering/mask upon entering the funeral home along with following social distancing guidelines.
