Maria Luisa Placencia's Obituary
Racine-Maria Luisa Placencia, 69, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2020, at Ascension All Saints Hospital.
Maria was born to the late Brigido and Estephana (nee: Cavazos) Sanchez on June 5, 1950, in Racine. She was united in marriage to Jesus Placencia in 1969 in Waukegan, IL. They were married for several years until Jesus’ passing in July of 1988.
Maria graduated from J.I. Case High School and then attended Dominican College. She worked as a legal secretary and then later in life, worked with adults and children with special needs. Maria was a free spirit who loved to travel. She took motorcycle trips to places such as Sturgis, ND, and Texas. Maria enjoyed camping and fishing; she truly enjoyed being out in nature. She was a talented artist. Maria made pottery and painted portraits. She came from a large family and when she married Jesus, Maria was welcomed with open arms into his large family. Above all, Maria loved her family and took care of them with open arms. She took care of many of her nieces, nephews, and other family members. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish Maria’s memory are her loving children: Marcella Placencia, Sonta (Augustine) Rodriguez, Venessa Placencia, Alex Placencia, Isabel Soto, and a loving goddaughter, Jennifer (Broc) Jones; grandchildren: Anthony (Erica), Jessenia, Angel, Melissa, Alex, Gus, Byron, Jesse, Sevanna, Isabella, and Lilyana; great-grandchildren: Ritchie, Enzo, Jaden, Anaya, Jayla, Jessie, Javion, Cali, Byron III, and Julianna; siblings: Albert Garibay, Nina Garibay, Richie Vasquez, Mercedes Dempsey, Mike (Janet) Sanchez, and Rachel Placencia; special friend, Carol McClelland; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Maria is preceded in death by her husband, Jesus, and her brother, Martin Sanchez, among other relatives.
A celebration of Maria’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, January 17, 2020, at 12 pm. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Friday from 10 am until the time of service.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jennifer and her mom, Carol Morales; as well as Louis Molina, Theresa Malacara, and Lucy Donner for their loving and special care of Maria.
