Margaret Rigg's Obituary
Margaret Rigg, 94, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2007 at the Christopher House in Kenosha. Margaret Amelia Scholl Rigg was the only child of Matilda Nielsen and George Scholl born on Oct. 21, 1912 in Chicago, Ill.
Margaret graduated from Northern Illinois Teacher's College DeKalb in 1933 cum laude. She taught in a one room elementary schoolhouse in Plano, Il and for many years as a substitute teacher and full time teacher for Racine elementary schools.
On June 20, 1936, she was united in marriage to Richard Edison Rigg at the Plano Baptist church. They moved to Normal, Ill. where they made their home for 14 years. Three children were born to this union, Joyce Darlene, Anita Kay and George Edison, who died shortly after birth. She lived in Racine and Kenosha for many years.
Margaret was very active in Calvary Memorial Church. She sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School for many years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Morris of Isle of Palms, SC and Anita (Arthur) Dykstra of New Lenox, Il; grandchildren, Linda McDonald, Laura Polkoff, Rob Morris, Thane Dykstra, Heather Doran, Megan Bangerts; thirteen great-grandchildren other relatives and friends also survive. Her husband, Richard Edison Rigg preceded her in death on Jan. 1, 1969.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Nathan James officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Memorials in memory of Margaret to Hospice Alliance or Calvary Memorial Church have been suggested.
