Lydia Lehner's Obituary
Racine - Mrs. Lydia L. Lehner, 105, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, August 6, 2011.
Lydia was born in Racine to the late August and Augusta (nee: Jaeck) Brauer on May 22, 1906. When she was 17 years of age she moved to Chicago to look for work and attended the Moody Bible Institute. Nine years later she returned to Racine due to the Great Depression. On September 4, 1933 she was united in marriage to Alvin Lehner at the Moody Church of Chicago. Alvin preceded her in death in April, 1965.
Mrs. Lehner faithfully attended Calvary Memorial Church. She loved the Word of God and prayed faithfully every day. She had a heart for missions and gave generously to many missions. She shared the truths of the Bible with her grandchildren and her caregivers through out her life. She worked hard on the family farm and enjoyed gardening.
Lydia will be dearly missed by her two sons, Kenneth (Mary Nell) Lehner of Rothschild and Roger (Julie) Lehner of Racine; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and expecting one more; and one great-great grandchild. She was one of 8 siblings, 4 brothers and 3 sisters, all who have also preceded her in death.
Funeral services in honor of Lydia will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 1 pm with Pastor Patrick Faulk officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 12 noon until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to the American Bible Society.
The Lehner family would like to thank Kelly and Sandy of Wheaton Franciscan Home Health for their helpful care of Lydia.
