Lorraine June Mikulecky's Obituary
Racine - Lorraine June Mikulecky, 92, passed away peacefully at her home at Harmony Assisted Living on April 12, 2015.
Lorraine was born in Racine to the late Edward and Emma (nee: Keuper) Buhler on June 7, 1922. She graduated from Washington Park High School and was the editor of the Park Beacon Newsletter. Lorraine loved sports including: bowling, golf and softball, but especially baseball. During World War II, Lorraine was recruited by the All American Girls Professional Baseball League to play for the Racine Belles. She regretted to decline due to the necessity to take care of her family. On January 18, 1947, Lorraine was united in marriage to Joseph T. Mikulecky. He preceded her in death in 1981.
Lorraine last worked at Modine Manufacturing Co. until her retirement in 1970. She was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church but also attended activities at Christ Church United Methodist with her daughter. She played cards at various senior centers. She was an avid hometown fan of the Brewers, Packers and Badgers. She enjoyed family gatherings, yet was ready to travel with her bags packed.
Lorraine will be dearly missed by her children, Sharon M. Janus of Racine and former son-in-law, Robert Janus of Nekoosa, Larry J. (Carolyn) Mikulecky of Bloomington, IN and Thomas E. (Sally) Mikulecky of Wisconsin Dells; grandchildren, Peter (Michelle) Mikulecky, Tai Mikulecky, Daniel (Liz) Kennow, Jason (Jill) Mikulecky, Joel (Shaun) Mikulecky and Jarrod (Jen) Mikulecky; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Isabella, Alex, Alyssa, Andrew, Addison, Tanner, Connor, Sydnee, Skyler and Jack; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by all her siblings, Alice Petersen, Louis Buhler, Clarence Buhler, Frank Buhler, Edward Buhler, Minnie “Tuty” Peterson and Helen Eppler.
Funeral services in honor of Lorraine will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Chaplain Tom Jones officiating. A committal service will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park chapel. Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family from 9:30 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Lorraine’s name may be directed to Christ Church United Methodist or to Holy Communion Lutheran Church. Condolences may be made at www.wilsonfuneralhominc.com.
