Joan Grgich (Tom's Sister)
My brother Tom went to be with his Lord and Savior this morning. Ironically, it was our brother Don's birthday. Tom had been ill for a couple months and had been in the same nursing home our parents were. He was under hospice care. He seemed to 'give up' at the end, and was ready to go. Tim, his son said he went peacefully.
Tom had lived a very good positive life. He was 74. He lived 34 years after receiving a kidney transplant! I'm sure he'll be in the record books for that.
He had never met a stranger and was born with a 'gift of gab'. He loved people and doing things for them. He often sent me kringles for my birthday and Christmas knowing I would share them with you.
I will miss his letters and goofy phone calls. We always 'argued' at the end of the call about who loved who the most.
It's wonderful to know that we will meet again as promised.
