Lois Engstrom's Obituary
Ms. Lois R. Engstrom, 88, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at her residence.
Lois was born in Racine on February 4, 1922 to the late John and Ruth (nee: Chambers) Hansen and had lived her entire life in Racine. On May 2, 1942 she was united in marriage to Earl N. Engstrom. He preceded her in death on February 29, 2008.
Lois was employed as a bookkeeper and receptionist for Dr. R.L. Gorsky and Dr. R. Connell until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Church, The Racine Christian Women's Club, in which she was twice elected chairman and prayer advisor. She also served as a food bank volunteer at area churches.
Lois is survived by her children, Thomas (Claudia) Engstrom, Nancy Engstrom; son-in-law, Mark Schultz; grandchildren, Jennifer (Tony) Gutierrez, Jodie Rodriguez, Erica (Trevor) Engstrom, Kelcy Engstrom, and Troy (Tanya) Engstrom; great-grandchildren, Noah Martin, Tashca and Antonio Rodriguez, Jacob and Griffin Guitierrez; brother, Mel Hansen; sisters, Alice Hansen and Shirley James; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Schultz; brother, Don Hansen; sisters, Juanita Hansen, Kay Hansen, and Arlene (John) Overman.
Funeral services for Lois will be held at Calvary Memorial Church (4001 Washington Ave) on Monday, September 13, 2010 at 7:00pm with Rev. Nathan Joy James and Rev. Richard Ferrell officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at church from 4:00pm until the time of service. Inurnment and Mound Cemetery will take place at a later date.
The family would like to thank neighbors Nancy and Dave Duchac for the never ending friendship they had for Lois.
