Linda Marie Martin
JANESVILLE – Linda Marie Martin (nee: Brown), age 63, passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 with loving family by her side. Linda was born to Frank Earl and Betty June (Corwin) Brown on October 2, 1951 in Racine, Wisconsin.
In 1970 Linda graduated from Park High School in Racine. She was later united in marriage to Maurice Martin on June 19, 1971 at the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Racine, Wisconsin. She took nursing courses at Gateway Technical College in Kenosha and also attended U.W. Parkside. Later, she worked at Woodstock Rehab and St. Catherine’s Hospital as a physical therapy aide and for Kenosha Unified as a special education aide.
Faith and Jesus were very important to her which helped her grow and gave her hope and strength. Linda loved a variety of music, was an enthusiastic reader, loved to write and quilt, and took special interest in the Amish and their simple way of life. Also, she enjoyed scrapbooking, gardening, yarnwork, crewling and weaving.
She enjoyed taking vacations with her family to Lake Mills, the Roberts Resort on Pier Lake in northern Wisconsin, Shoal Lake in northern Minnesota, and several trips to Disney World.
Surviving are her husband: Maury; son: Tim (Jenny) Martin; son: Mike (DeAnna) Martin; daughter: Michelle (Chris) Getter; grandchildren: Connor, Josh, Gavin, and baby Martin due in May; dog: Cubby, a Shih-Tzu; many aunts, uncles and other close relatives; and special friends: Carlene Heard and Bonnie Emmons.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents: Frank Earl Brown and Betty June (Corwin) Brown; brother: Frank Brown Jr; and grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2015 at 10:30 AM. Friends and relatives may visit with the family on Thursday, March 5, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, and again on Friday from 9:30 AM until the time of the service. Interment will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Park. Pastor Steven Ekblad from Good Shepherd Lutheran in Janesville will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the COPD Foundation.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and doctors in the I.C.U. at Mercy Hospital in Janesville for their compassionate care.
