When I was a junior at Horlick I asked coach to teach me how to swim. He was extremely patient and took the time to put me at ease in the water. I’m still not a fan of swimming but at least I know the basics.

Coach Black was a great roll model, coach, and family man. He played a very important part in the success of our great football teams of the 70’s at Horlick. Coach Wojick.
Ken was an awesome principal, boss, and friend. He was very special to all my sons at Mitchell Middle School, a fabulous boss at SC Johnson, and a friend I enjoyed visiting with at Grace Church. He loved his family and always had wonderful stories to share. He will be missed. My prayers are with you family. Kadee Paap
His presence will be forever missed. I am sure, like High School, he'll be up above calling out the burnouts. And they will all smile and nod. Pax.
Ken was my sub-school principal at Case HS and a trusted mentor for special education. He was a very caring, dedicated administrator who would tell my IEP students it was good if the only time he ever saw them again was shaking hands with him at graduation. We shared many veteran memorabilia and stories (plus the same barber). He has a warm place in my heart.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
I remember our families getting together many times at your house when we were all kids. There weren't a lot of homeschool families back in the early 1990s before the wide use of the internet so it was truly word of mouth and small social groups. I remember in the winter your dad took us over to that large snowing hill and a nearby ice rink Nathan used to play out. I think he lost a tooth or two learning the game. It was good fun. I'm sorry to hear of him passing. I guess as we all get older that just becomes part of life. We're no longer young anymore. We have to take every day God's given us as a gift and live it to the fullest.
I had the distinct pleasure of teaching and coaching with Ken at Horlick High School from 1976-1980. Ken not only was a great coach and teacher but his love of his family and life was shown each and every day. He will be missed by all of the hearts he touched. Rest in Peace Coach. Brad Smith
I Have so many wonderful memories of Ken Black. He coached the boys tennis team at Horlick High School with me for about 30 years.
Ken was a great role model and mentor for all of our athletes. We were fortunate to have many hard-working gifted athletes who won most of the conference championships and sectional championships the years we coached. But our greatest joy was seeing many of our athletes receive Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and to go on to Live for him. Someday soon we will have a great reunion around the throne of our precious Lord and Savior! Dan Cabush
Coach Black made everyone feel seen and heard. He was kind and generous with his time and was loved and respected by everyone. His loss will be felt, but his impact and memories will live on.
