Julia Avila's Obituary
Kenosha - Julia R. Avila, 82, passed away in the presence of her family on Saturday morning, June 9, 2007.
Julia Avila was born in Gonzales, Texas to the late Pablo and Teodocia (nee: Reyes) Avila on December 20, 1924. She had lived in Racine for most of her life.
Julia was employed at American Motors/Chrysler for 27 years. She retired in 1989. Julia was a member of the Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She was a strong, energetic, and active person. She enjoyed helping people and volunteering, especially at the church. Julia was honored as one of Wisconsin's Ten Most Admired Senior Citizens of 1994. She loved her hugs and kisses.
Julia is survived by her husband, Angel Monzon; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Jesus (Maria) Avila of Donna, Texas, Samuel Avila of Milwaukee, Manuel Avila (Joann) of Racine; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Lorenza (Roberto) Riojois, Petra (Jesus) Hernandez, Delfina Garcia, and Francisca Garcia all of Racine; two sisters-in-law, Margarita Avila of San Antonio, Texas and Hortencia Avila of Racine; her niece and caretakers, Lydia (Alberto) Garcia, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Juan, Nino, and Thomas Avila.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Cristo Rey Catholic Church on Wednesday morning, June 13, 2007 at 9 am with Fr. Roberto McGlinn officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery on Kinzie Ave. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday evening, June 12, 2007 from 5 until 7 pm.
