Judith A. Ekman's Obituary
Racine – Judith A. Ekman, 73, passed away the morning of December 4, 2021.
Judi was born in Racine to Vernon "Dutch" and Mary "Dolly" (nee Mercier) Cipra on August 13, 1948. Soon after graduating high school, Judi met Bruce Ekman and it was literally love at first sight. Bruce proposed just three days after meeting her and they were married six weeks later in San Diego, California. They spent the last 52 years committed to that marriage.
Judi enjoyed spending time up north at the campground with Bruce and their close friends. She also enjoyed shopping with her mom and sister on Wednesdays and her grandchildren on Tuesdays. Judi enjoyed cooking and sewing and was very talented in both. She had a natural knack for creating personal homemade presents for people and was known for her intuition and careful execution of these special gifts. Judi was the happiest when she was making others happy. She was a member of St. Lucy's Catholic Church and recently became an avid Packers fan. Above all, Judi loved spending time with her devoted husband, children and grandchildren. She adored her mother and sister. She was loved by close friends and will be missed terribly by all who knew her.
Judi will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Bruce Ekman; son, Brent Ekman; daughter, Kelly Highman; mother, Mary “Dolly” Scott; sister, Susan (Jeb) DeGroot; granddaughter, Payten Highman; grandson, Maddex Highman; 3 nieces, one nephew, and several friends.
Judi is predeceased by her father, Vernon Cipra; and grandson, Caden Highman.
A celebration of Judi’s life will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Friday evening, December 10, 2021, beginning with a visitation at 3:00 PM until the memorial service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Judi’s name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital (5501 N Cumberland Ave #101, Chicago, IL 60656) and/or HALO (2000 De Koven Ave, Racine, WI 53403).
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Santi and the entire care staff from the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors from Ascension All Saints Hospital for their compassionate care of Judi.
