Joyce Anita Winter's Obituary
RACINE- Joyce Anita (nee Sandborn) Winter, age 92, passed away at her residence at The Villa at Lincoln Park on Tuesday, January 2, 2017.
On October 8, 1924, Joyce was born to Samuel and Elsie (nee Bowden) Sandborn in Escanaba, MI. Joyce was united in marriage to Edward Winter on March 23, 1946 in Milwaukee, WI. Edward preceded her in death on February 19, 1998. She worked as a bookbinder at Western Publishing for 12 years, retiring in 1972.
Joyce was a faithful member of Faith Lutheran Church in Sturtevant, WI, where she was active in various ladies’ groups and attended Bible class with her husband. She loved being with people, and took special delight in her grandchildren. Above all else, family was the most important treasure in her life.
Left to cherish her memory are her son, Alan Winter; her grandchildren: Jennifer Jarvis, Michael (April) Winter, and Bradley Winter; seven great grandchildren; a niece, Sharon (Robert) Dahl; and other relatives and friends.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; her brothers, Ronald and Robert; her sisters, Phyllis and Kathleen; a special sister-in-law, Marion Winter, and a dear niece, Carlyn Berndsen.
A celebration of Joyce’s life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. with Pastor Jeff Mortenson presiding. A time of visitation will be held on Thursday, from 4:30 p.m. until the time of the service. Entombment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Oak Creek, WI at the convenience of the family.
