Joy Louise Clemons' Obituary
Racine - Joy Louise Clemons, age 93, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on August 26, 1931, in Racine, Wisconsin, Joy was the beloved daughter of Fred Saxild and Louise Saxild (née Ribbeck). On August 5, 1950, she married the love of her life, Roger "Lee" Clemons, at Grange Avenue Methodist Church. Together, they shared a beautiful marriage until Lee’s passing on February 4, 1983.
Joy lived a life filled with warmth, creativity, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith. She was a member of Calvary Memorial Church choir and faithfully attended Racine Bible Church and later Union Grove Baptist Church.
Joy expressed her love through acts of service and simple joys—knitting, crocheting, and cooking—each stitch and recipe made with heart. She also enjoyed roller skating in her earlier years and tending to her floral and vegetable garden. Joy had a love for music, playing both the saxophone and piano. Above all, Joy was the heart of her family. Her legacy of love and strength lives on in each generation she nurtured. Joy will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
Joy is survived by her loving children: Debbie, Robert “Bob,” DaleDale, and Rich Clemons; her grandchildren: Greg Clemons, Dana and Justin Davis, Eric and Kieron Clemons, Julie Moree, Audrey Copeland and Joshua, Nakisha and Dalton Clemons; great-grandchildren: Lauren, Nathan, and Nick Clemons, Mariyah and Clayton Clemons, Reagan and Colten Clemons, Ellie Clemons, Emma, Justin, and Logan Moree, and Jada. She also leaves behind her great-great-granddaughter, Iyla Clemons.
Joy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Lee; her son, Ronald Clemons; and many dear family members and friends.
A celebration of Joy’s life will be held at Union Grove Baptist Church on Thursday, April 17, 2025, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the ceremony at 12:00 p.m. A committal service will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park following the ceremony.
