Joseph Habetler's Obituary
Racine-Joseph “Joe” Habetler, 96, passed away on July 5, 2018, at the Woods of Caledonia.
Joe was born in Racine to the late Peter and Malvina (nee: Cseri) Habetler on September 26, 1921. He was united in marriage to Jo Ann Wodicka on September 4, 1948, in Racine. Joe and Jo Ann were married for 63 years until Jo Ann preceded him in death on April 12, 2012.
On October 28, 1942, Joe enlisted in the Army Air Corps and was stationed in Italy for his entire military service. He has been a member of the Racine Instructive Bowmen since 1954, having a passion for archery and deer hunting all his life. Joe enjoyed traveling to northern Wisconsin with his family to hunt. He worked as a machinist for several years in Racine. Above all, Joe loved spending time with his family and he will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish Joe’s memory is his daughter: Mary Jo Seeger (fiancé: Andrew Berris); his son, Gary (Sandy) Habetler; five grandchildren: Deborah (Jerome) Prucha, Erik (Beckie) Habetler, Robert (Kathleen) Seeger, Michael Ackermann, and Steve Ackermann; great-grandchildren: Tyler, Jazmyn, Ethan, Abby, Greyson, Isaac, Evelyn, and Eleanor; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Joe is preceded in death by his five siblings: Pauline, Ann, Peter, Frank, and MaryAnn.
A celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 11, 2018, at the Wilson Funeral Home at 12:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to meet at the Wilson Funeral Home for a visitation from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. The family asks memorials be made out to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight (Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Inc. PO Box 867 Menomonee Falls, WI, 53052). Entombment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.
