John James' Obituary
Racine - Mr. John Thomas James, 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare - All Saints on Friday, November 27, 2009.
John T. James was born in Sugar Creek, Missouri to the late John Millard and Ethel (nee: Wilson) James on January 19, 1926. He had lived in Racine for most of his life. He was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Hansen in Waukegan, Illinois on November 7, 1949.
Mr. James was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Racine, Wisconsin Inc. He served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific. He was a Supply Sergeant stationed in the Schofield Barracks in Hawaii. Mr. James was employed at Young Radiator for 25 years and retired in 1991. Golfing was his pride. He was in the Young Radiator Golf League for 10 years and took First Place three times each with a different partner. He also enjoyed bowling, hiking, cross country skiing, and his tradition in running the annual Lighthouse Run. His favorite times were traveling with his family. Together they traveled to 49 different states.
John will be dearly missed by his wife of 60 years, Shirley of Racine; his son, Kevin James of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren, Jonathan, Sean (Rebecca), and Glendora; three great grandchildren, Timothy, Zachary, and Marissa; three sisters, Norma (Bob) Stevens, Shirley (Hank) Kalenofske, and Janet (Wayne) Rudhomme; one former brother-in-law, Richard Fortier; many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and many caring friends. He was preceded in death by one son, Barry James on January 2, 1994; one brother, Ronald James; and one sister, Joyce Fortier.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church of Racine, Wisconsin Inc., 3825 Erie Street, on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 1 pm with Rev. Rosalind Dryver-Scott officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the church from 11 am until service time. Memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church of Racine, Wisconsin Inc.
