John Crozier's Obituary
Mr. John L. Crozier Jr., 86, passed away on Friday April 11, 2008 at Ridgewood Care Center.
John Crozier was born in Robinson, Illinois on November 28, 1921 to the late John Sr. and Amy (nee: Wylder) Crozier. He graduated from high school in Readstown in 1940 and moved to Gary, Indiana. He had lived in Racine since World War II. He was united in marriage to Audrey E. Whitsett on June 15, 1946 in Hopkinsville, Kentucky.
Mr. Crozier served in the United States Army during World War II. He earned the American Theatre Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Victory Medal. In Germany, he was wounded in action to receive a Purple Heart Medal.
Mr. Crozier was employed as a truck driver for both Commercial Trucking Co. and Motor Transport Co and retired in 1977. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church, the VFW Post 1391, and the Teamsters Union. He was an avid model railroader.
John is survived by his wife, Audrey; three children, Sharon (William) Prowse of Beloit, Deborah (William Lannier) Crozier of San Diego, California, and John Kevin Crozier of Racine; four grandchildren, Jeffrey (Debra) Prowse, and Evan, Candace, and Ian Crozier; two great grandchildren, Jackson and Sydney Prowse; one sister, Rosella Hall of Onalaska; and nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Dover on Thursday, April 17, 2008 at 11 am with Rev. Crieghton Kaye officiating. Entombment will follow.
