Joel Wellhoefer's Obituary
Joel, 57, passed away on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Froedtert Hospital. He was born in Sheboygan on May 16, 1951 to Louis and Romaine (nee: Phalen) Wellhoefer. He lived in Racine for about 35 years. He was united in marriage to the former Suzanne Runge, in Racine, on June 5, 1976, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Joel began his career as an elderly outreach case worker with the United Way/Mental Health Assn. of Racine. He worked at Walker Manufacturing as a pricing analysis, and as of last working at a sixth grade teacher at Mitchell Middle School.
He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran, graduate of U.W.-Madison with a BA in History and an MA in education, MBA at Marquette University and then received his teaching certificate from the U.W.-Parkside.
He is survived by his wife, Suzanne Wellhoefer; their two sons, Erik and Mark Wellhoefer, mother, Romaine Wellhoefer; one brother, Jon (Nancy) Wellhoefer; his three nieces, Amy, Traci and Jenni, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Wellhoefer in Feb. 2009.
Funeral services will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran 2219 Washington Ave., on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 6:30 p.m. with Rev. Tracy Polzin officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Wednesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday.
Memorials in memory of Joel to Our Saviors Lutheran Church have been suggested.

Joel loved God, his country and was greatful to those who served in all the wars above all he truly cherished and loved his family and was always there for us. You will always be held in our hearts.
