Joanne Kay Terwall's Obituary
Pleasant Prairie – Joanne K. Terwall, age 76, passed into eternal life on April 16, 2024. Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin on July 7, 1947, Joanne was the daughter of Walter and Anne (nee Huissen) Terwall. She was educated in the schools of Kenosha. She obtained her Registered Nursing certification from St. Luke’s School of Nursing and a bachelor’s degree from Moody Bible Institute.
Joanne went on to a career in nursing beginning with a missionary nursing assignment in Kenya, Africa and followed with assorted time in varied hospital areas and ultimately in hospice care nursing. She paused her career to provide special end-of-life care to both of her parents as they ended their journey. Throughout her career and her life, she practiced her deeply held faith in God and His promise of eternal life.
Joanne is survived by siblings: James (Karen) Terwall, Robert Terwall, and Patricia (Patrick) Faulk; nieces and nephews: Gregg Terwall, Mark (Denise) Terwall, Trisha (James) Gosser, John Koons, Katie (Frank) Helton, Meredith (Ruben) Chavez, Amy (Justin) Beaton, Bethany (Eric) Barfell, and Michelle Terwall.
Joanne was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Anne Terwall; brother, Tom and sister-in-law, Marilee Terwall; sister-in-law, Nancy Terwall; and niece, Cheryl Koons. She also leaves behind many great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, as well as many friends, and her constant canine companion, Whimsy.
A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at Calvary Memorial Church, 4001 Washington Ave, Racine, WI 53405, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, beginning with a visitation at 10:00 am followed by a memorial service at 11:00 am. Memorial contributions in Joanne’s memory may be made to either Crossway Community Church, 13905 75th Street, Bristol, WI 53104, or to Wisconsin Humane Society, 8900 16th Street, Mount Pleasant, WI 53177.
