Jason was a dear friend to the end of his life. Last year he sent me many gifts: a Van Gogh blanket, Walt Whitman's poetry, and two DVDs: Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf and Suddenly Last Summer, which is actually a strange and compelling film which exemplified some of his deepest beliefs. And a jar of truffles.
We met in college and had incredible times together with our group of compatriots. We had our first apartment together above Genna's Lounge in Madison, and the experiences we shared were part of what makes me who I am today. He was a man of immense intelligence and a true force to be reckoned with on any subject, fearless in his sense of justice, and he stood up for his friends at every turn. An appreciator of art, beauty and fun. His loss at such an early age is tragic.
Jason, may your soul travel to a better place - you deserve it. I love you.
