Jamie "Krazy" Lee Slechta's Obituary
Born in Racine, Wisconsin on September 15, 1956, to the late Joseph and Shirley Slechta (nee: Goff). He lived most of his life in Racine but lived a few years in Shawno/Bowler and Wausau area, with his final years spent in the Wisconsin Dells.
He graduated from Park High School and went to Gateway Technical College to be an ASC Certified Mechanic. He was proud to be on the Dean's List.
His first job was at Ostergaard's Bakery near his childhood home in West Racine. He later worked at Jacobson and American Roller.
Krazy was always working on a car, truck, boat, bike or his family's home yet he had a full life. Besides making homemade donut holes and pancakes for his 4 kids and wife, he raced stock car with his brothers in the pits in Lake Geneva, rode Harleys, searched for the Hodag, went boating, fishing, camping, hunting and did woodworking. He even had a pet raccoon - Rocky Raccoon for a time. He threw many, many, many parties in which Harleys lined the street and the Rolling Stones music could be heard by all. Thankfully some neighbors liked the Stones. He was a good friend to many and always ready to celebrate the happy times in life.
On Friday June 5th, 2026, Krazy went to the big racetrack in the sky, and you know he didn't arrive quietly. With the wind in his hair and the sun on his face, his Krazy Plum Purple Harley roared through the pearly gates while shouting "Arrrr!" at the angels.
On Sunday, he'll be sitting in the best seat at the NASCAR track, cold beer in hand while trying to teach Bigfoot how to change a tire and waiting for #5 Larson to get the checker flag. He loved fast cars, loud bikes, and a good laugh with the family and friends dear to him.
He passed away peacefully in the Wisconsin Dells and leaves behind his kids: Jamie Slechta Jr of Chicago, IL, Roxy (Nathan) Leger of Wisconsin Dells, WI, Daniel Slechta and Lori Slechta both of Racine, WI; grandkids: Sarah, Laura, Jonny, Ben, Malachi; other relatives, his godson, Jason Roushia, and a wild pack of his favorite Scurvy Dogs.
He is preceded to death by his wife, Laura (Dee Dee) Slechta nee: Moon; his siblings: Joseph Slechta, Karen Reske, Tim Slechta, Marcie Slechta and Steve Slechta; and his parents.
Funeral services will take place at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday June 19th, 2026. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with Captain America officiating the celebration of life service at 6:00 PM. Harley/biker attire is welcomed along with motorcycles, hot rods and rusty Chevrolets. Krazy would want you to come as you are.
Keep the engines roaring and the beers cold. Arrrr!!!
