James Peterson's Obituary
Delavan - Mr. James N. Peterson, 85, passed away at Mercy Hospital in Janesville on May 22, 2009.
James Peterson was born in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Dr. Ralph and Anna (nee: Hohl) Peterson on October 18, 1923 and had lived most of his life in Racine. He was united in marriage to Judith A. Mickelsen in Chicago, Illinois on November 28, 1969.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II achieving the rank of 1st Lieutenant. He graduated from St. John's Military Academy and upon returning from service in Italy, became an instructor of Military Science there. As a graduate of Marquette University, he earned a bachelors degree in Business Administration. Upon graduation, he was employed as a sales representative and retired as a supervisor of shipping and receiving. He was a former member of Gethsemane Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was an avid fisherman, a member of the Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, American Legion, and Disabled Veterans.
James will be dearly missed by his wife, Judith, of 40 years; two children, son James (Yvonne) Peterson and daughter Jane Ann Peterson, who preceded him in death; seven grandchildren, Nadine, Erik, Tina, Neil; a step-son David and family; two special brothers-in-law, Robert (Dorly) Mickelsen and Thomas Mickelsen; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Rodney Peterson.
Private services were held at the Wilson Funeral Home, Racine, Wisconsin. Interment with full military honors occurred at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial donations in Mr. Peterson's name may be directed to Disabled Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, Ohio 45250-0301.
