James R. Peterson's Obituary
James R. Peterson, 65, of Hibbing, Minn., passed away on Friday, Oct. 16, 2015, surrounded by family, after fighting a brief but fierce battle with a rare disease.
Jim was born in Racine, Wisc. on January 1, 1950 to James N. and Allette O. Peterson. Jim graduated from Case High School in Racine, Wisc. in 1968. In 1972 he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in geography from Carroll University in Waukesha, Wisc., and married his high school sweetheart, Yvonne Caskey.
He retired from Hibbing Taconite and served on the board for the Center for Independent Living for several years. He loved fishing, spending time at his family cabin and attending car shows with his long-time friends. He rarely missed a Saturday date night with his wife Yvonne. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Chisholm.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Yvonne (Caskey) Peterson of Hibbing, daughter Nadine Peterson of Hibbing and son Erik (Jennifer) Peterson of Proctor, Minn. Jim was a proud grandfather to Adrianna Lynn Peterson and Ava Jae Peterson.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Jane.
Funeral: visitation will begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, at Wilson Funeral Home, 1212 Lathrop Ave., Racine, Wisc. A memorial service will begin at 4 p.m. with a reception to follow.
