James "Jim" A. McIntyre's Obituary
Racine - James "Jim" A. McIntyre, 80, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024, at Ridgewood Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
Jim was born to the late Dougal and Lorraine (nee Will) McIntyre on November 28, 1943, in Barron, Wisconsin. Born and raised with a spirited enthusiasm for life, Jim embarked on his educational pursuits at La Crosse University, where he dedicated two years before serving his country in the U.S. Navy. His four years aboard an aircraft carrier marked a period of valor and dedication to duty, shaping the foundation of his character.
Upon completing his military service, Jim returned to La Crosse University to fulfill his academic aspirations, ultimately earning his bachelor’s degree. Undeterred by challenges, he pursued further education, obtaining his master’s degree with unwavering determination.
Jim's professional journey led him to the realm of guidance and mentorship as a school counselor, a role he embraced wholeheartedly. His tenure began at La Crosse University, where he imparted wisdom and guidance to countless students. Later, in a new chapter of life prompted by marriage, Jim relocated to Racine. He continued his noble vocation as a school counselor at Gateway Technical College.
Jim was an enthusiast of America's favorite pastime, baseball. His love for the sport knew no bounds, as evidenced by his remarkable feat of visiting every Major League Baseball ballpark, a testament to his adventurous spirit and passion for the game.
Jim will be deeply missed by his siblings: Judith Miller (Paul Hajicik), Katherine McEwen, and Jeff McIntyre; niece, Jessica McEwen; nephew, Joshua McEwen; great-niece, Selene; great-nephew, August; along with several other relatives and friends.
Per Jim’s wishes, no services will be held.
