James Edward DeCamp's Obituary
Racine - James Edward DeCamp, 87, of Racine, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2025, just days after the passing of his beloved wife, Myrna. James was born in Racine to the late Walter and Ann (nee Dykstra) DeCamp on January 3, 1938. He was united in marriage to Myrna (nee Peterson) DeCamp on August 20, 1966, at North Cape Lutheran Church. Together, they shared nearly 60 years of devoted love.
James had a distinguished career, serving as a firefighter for the City of Racine for 30 years, where he became well known for his dedication and service. In addition to his role as a firefighter, James proudly served in the United States Army. He was a pillar of his community, volunteering at hospital cancer support groups and remaining an active member of both the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection and the Kiwanis Club of Racine.
An avid sports enthusiast, James enjoyed bowling, golfing, and watching his favorite teams, the Brewers and Packers. He was also known for his sense of humor and warm heart, which endeared him to those who knew him.
James will be deeply missed by his brother: Nolan (Karen) DeCamp; nieces and nephews: Nicole, Kristin, Daniel, Craig, and Carri; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his brother, Donald DeCamp; sister, Renee DeCamp; and brother-in-law, Lyle Peterson.
A celebration of James’ life will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, beginning with a visitation at 12:00 p.m. until a ceremony at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. John Anderson officiating. A committal service will follow in the chapel at West Lawn Memorial Park.

James leaves behind a legacy of service, kindness, and love, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
