James Ballantyne's Obituary
Racine- James Ballantyne, 97, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 29, 2009.
Jim was born in Racine on May 27, 1912, to William and Margaret Ballantyne. Jim married Ethyl M. Schroetter of Kenosha on July 4, 1941. Ethyl preceded Jim in death on July 1, 2008, just three days short of their 67th wedding anniversary.
Jim worked in purchasing throughout his career, holding positions at Twin Disc, Modine Manufacturing Co., and J.I. Case Co. prior to retiring in 1972 as Director of Purchasing from Superior Die Set, in Oak Creek, WI.
Jim enjoyed woodworking, cabinet making, and photography; hobbies at which he was very accomplished. He served on the Board of Directors of Youth for Christ. Jim sang in many area churches and often accompanied Arvid Pederson, a well known local chalk artist.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Nancy (Curt) Johnson of Sawer, MI, and son, William (Linda) Ballantyne of Eden Praire, MN, four grandchildren; Heather Johnson, Sung (Jade) Ji, Scott (Callie) Ballantyne, and Meredith Ballantyne, two great-grandchildren; Samuel Ji and Peyton Ballantyne, his brother; William Ballantyne of Waterford and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Private services were held for Jim. Internment was at West Lawn Memorial Park.
