Irma Jean Andersen's Obituary
Irma Jean Andersen, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 18, 2018 at Ridgewood Care Center. A lifetime resident of the Racine area, Irma Jean was born to Roy and Laura Andress, the fourth oldest of seven daughters.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Sturtevant where the entire congregation knew her simply as Auntie Jean. She loved her time spent with homemakers and quilting clubs as well as the Gideons International Auxiliary. Irma Jean was a gifted homemaker who loved cooking, baking, quilting and crochet. She also dedicated much of her time in later life to volunteering at the Racine County Visitors Bureau and at Ridgewood Care Center.
Irma Jean will be fondly remembered by her many dear friends and her entire family including husband of 71 years, Tom, and her sisters: Emelene Andress, Delores Dahl, and Nancy Huggins. She leaves a strong legacy of Christian faith in her surviving children: Thomas (Muriel), Richard (Jeanne), Dale (Cheryl), Lois (Jim) Kemper, Calvin (fiancée, Patti Edwards), nine grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her son, Gary Andersen, and sisters: Elaine Gustin, Donna Jacobson, and Luetta Uggerby.
A funeral service in memory of Irma Jean’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 9122 Durand Avenue, in Sturtevant, WI on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Richard Rogers officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the Wilson Funeral Home on Sunday, June 24, 2018 from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. and also on Monday morning at the church from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Private interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorial donations in memory of Irma Jean may be made to Gideons International at gideons.org/donate or Calvary Baptist Church, Sturtevant, WI.
