Irene Schmidt's Obituary
Mrs. Schmidt, 86, passed away peacefully with her family beside her at All Saints Hospital/St. Mary's on Tuesday, September 23, 2008. She was born in Canada on Oct. 6, 1921 to the late Boudwin and Eliza Callewaert. She married the love of her life, Rudolph (Rudy) Schmidt on February 26, 1944 in Racine.
She is survived by her children, Dan and Peggy Schmidt, Sharon and Rick White. She found much pride and joy in her grandchildren, Tracey and Dave, Jeff and Barb, Jennie and Chris, Alex and Melissa and Kyle. She will forever be remembered for her "candy drawer". Always in her thoughts were her six great-grandchildren, Stephanie (Jimmy), Zach, Reed, Erich, Aiden and Jack. They always brought a smile to her eyes.
She leaves her very special brothers and sisters, Joe, Frank (Ruth) Callewaert, Martha Burns, Laura Emmerling, Mary (Bob) Waraxa, Irma (Mike) Sturicz and sister-in-law Sue Callewaert. She very much appreciated your visits and was always glad to see each of you.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudy, her very special grandson, Paul, three brothers, Camilla, Jerry and Albert Callewaert; two sisters-in-law, Irene and Cynthia, two brothers-in-law, Roy Emmerling and Earl Burns.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave., on Friday, September 26, 2008 at 9:45 a.m. With Rev. Michael Zarling officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Friday from 8 a.m. until the time of service.
Irene's family would like to thank the nurses of the third floor of the hospital, especially Nichole, for their insight and thoughtfulness throughout the last few days. You have earned your wings.
