Iona Irene Post's Obituary
Racine-Iona Irene Post, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Thanksgiving morning, November 28, 2019.
Iona was born to the late Harlow and Irene (nee: Baker) Roder on March 22, 1937, in Milan, WI. She was united in marriage to Richard Post on June 9, 1956, in Racine. They were married for 52 years until Richard’s passing on December 28, 2008.
Iona was a faithful and active member of First Evangelical Free Church. She was one of the church’s Prayer Warriors. Iona loved to write poems, helping others, and knitting. She enjoyed rainy days, especially thunderstorms, but only if she was able to stay inside. She loved spending time with her family and friends, cherishing every moment she had with them.
Left to cherish Iona’s memory are her children: Daniel (Sherie) Post, Sharon Rosin, and Randal Post; grandchildren: Christopher Rosin, Lori (Cliff) Beyer, and Steven (Charlie) Rosin-Erdall; great-granddaughters: Lylah and Ella Beyer; siblings: Hilbert (Diana) Roder of Fort White, FL, Ramona Barton of Racine, Lyle Roder of Union Grove, and Janice Bartlett of Norfolk, VA; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Iona is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Post; infant son, Allen Post; siblings: Lorraine (Ray) Voyle, Eddie Roder, and Carol Kraus; nephew, Paul Klam; brother-in-law, Howard Barton; along with many other relatives.
Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Iona’s life at the Wilson Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at 1 pm with Pastor John Bodnar officiating. A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 am until the time of service. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
