IdaBelle Loewecke's Obituary
Racine – IdaBelle (Thompson) Loewecke, 96, passed away on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
IdaBelle was born in Menominee, Michigan to the late George Garnet and Meta Alvina (Gelinske) Thompson on November 11, 1926. She was united in marriage to William E. Loewecke on September 20, 1948, in Johnson County, Iowa. IdaBelle and William were married for several years before he passed away on February 28, 1976.
IdaBelle worked as a labor and delivery nurse for many years at St. Luke’s Hospital in Racine. She eventually became the head nurse for labor and delivery. IdaBelle was very passionate about her nursing career. She knew early on exactly what she wanted to do, and she made it happen. She eventually retired in 1990. IdaBelle was a very strong, independent woman. She did not let her age stop her from doing anything. IdaBelle enjoyed working in the garden, alongside her neighbor who also enjoyed gardening. The two would often swap plant cuttings or give advice on the best places to plant in the garden. IdaBelle was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
IdaBelle will be deeply missed by her children: Gail Collins, William (Judy) Loewecke and Paula (Kurt) Miller; grandchildren: Heather (Ryan) Sheskey, Allison (Chris) Silver, Nathaniel (Melissa) Miller, Melissa (Charles Tubbs) Miller, Paul Miller and Danielle (Andrew) Miller; nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Sally Johnson and Judy Paladeau; and many other friends and family.
IdaBelle was preceded in death by her husband William E. Loewecke, and sisters Ruby Ranew and Hazel Heinritz.
A visitation for IdaBelle will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Racine at 12:00p.m., followed by a memorial service at 1:00p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like any donations to go to the First Evangelical Lutheran Church.
