Henny Hansen's Obituary
Racine- Mrs. Henny (nee: Thomsen) Hansen, 100, passed away on Monday, June 4, 2012 at Lincoln Village Convalescent Center.
Henny was born in Fredrickshaven, Denmark on January 18, 1912 to the late Alfred F. and Laura P. (nee: Jensen) Thomsen. In 1915, at the age of 3, she immigrated with her parents to Racine where she lived most of her life. Henny also had lived in Pelican Lake for 17 years and Palmyra for five years. It was in Palmyra that she was united in marriage to Wilbert R. Hansen on July 8, 1938.
Henny had been employed by Kresge's Dime Store for over 10 years. During World War II she was employed by the United States Post Office and then the Rhinelander Paper Company for over 10 years. She retired in 1960. Henny was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary, where she had served as a former president of unit 76 in Racine. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crochet and crafts.
Henny will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews, Barbara L. Jensen, Mark (Karen) Thomsen, Ellen (Rev. David) Solevad, Janet (Tom) Weber, and Daniel (Diane) Thomsen; dear friend, Clifford Garski; as well as other dear friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur R. Hansen Sr.; step-son, Wilber R. Hansen Jr.; his sister, Ella Jensen; and two brothers, Jack P. Thomsen and Carl E. Thomsen.
Private services in honor of Henny took place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
