Helen Gertrude VonGonten's Obituary
Helen Gertrude VonGonten, 95, passed on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Ridgewood Care Center.
Helen was born in Marquette, Michigan to the late Frederick and Ella (nee: Connors) Hazen on January 21, 1920. In Racine at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to Frederick Charles VonGonten on June 28, 1941. They have been married for 74 years.
Helen was a member of Holy Communion Lutheran Church. She volunteered her time at St. Luke’s Auxiliary and the Christmas House. Helen was employed by Haben Manufacturing. She loved to sew, take casino trips and go antiquing. She also enjoyed baking, reading and traveling.
Helen is survived by her husband Frederick; daughters, Deborah (Michael) Burdick and Lisa (Francisco) Robles of California; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Frances and her brothers, Charles and Robert.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Doidge officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park Chapel. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service time. Memorials may be directed to Holy Communion Lutheran Church.
