My Grandpa meant the world to me! I can't believe he's no longer on this earth. He will forever be with me in my heart and memories.
I can remember riding on his tractor as a child and learning how to drive it (probably with the intention of taking that chore off of his hands one day), camping, picking vegetables from the garden & helping get them ready for canning / freezing, driving to and from church with him and Grandma Shirley, watching Hee Haw, Lawrence Welk and the Bowling Game in the evenings (grandpa would always mute the TV during commercials), having New York Cherry ice cream before bed, hearing him always comment on my love of frosting, playing Yahtzee & Uno, and getting up to turn the antenna to face the right way so we could get reception on the TV. Every time I would tell him that I loved him, his response would be "me too". It kind of became our "thing" all the way up until the end...
I was also blessed to be able to continue to make memories with him as an adult by cutting his hair ("Michelle, I can braid the hair in my ears") then hanging out afterwards and catching up.
It was always the greatest thing, as a child, when everyone would get together on Meadowlane Ave. at the holidays and enjoy each other's company with good food, good times and good family! I will really miss all of us meeting up, wherever he was living at the time, and being together. Grandpa, truly, was the glue that held us all together!
I was very blessed to have had my Grandpa for my 49 years as well as having so many wonderful memories with him.
Thank you, Grandpa, for everything you have done for me and instilled in me. I am a better person because of you! "I have been changed for good"
Rest peacefully, Grandpa!
I love you!
Love,
Michelle
