Harold Martin Miller's Obituary
Harold Martin Miller, 94, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, at Wheaton Franciscan Hospital.
Harold was born January 7, 1922 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Chris and Olga (Myrvold) Miller. He married Catherine Burg on May 15, 1948.
Harold joined the Army and proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. After fulfilling his duties to the Army, Harold returned home and was hired by the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier. He loved his job and was a friend to all on his route, always offering a kind word and positive thought. Upon his retirement after 30 years, he was honored by two block parties from families that were on his route.
Harold was a long time member of Emmaus Lutheran Church. Harold’s family was very important to him, and he cherished his time with family and friends. He loved to travel and was always ready for a good game of cards. Harold enjoyed track and was a WIAA track starter and official.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Catherine, sons: William (Margaret) Miller and Jeff (Felicity) Miller: daughter, Kristine Miller–Pinti (Ben) ; grandchildren: Rachel (Andy) Albrecht, Grace Miller, Emma Miller, Christopher (Sequoya) Miller, Elizabeth (Jeff) Hoffmann, John Miller, Nathan and Ryan Pinti; one great-grandchild, Adalene Rose Albrecht; sister, Elsie Rashleger; sister-in-law, Loretta Wahlen, and “honorary grandchildren” Abe, Noah and Jacob Michelson.
Harold was preceded in death by his brother, Stan Miller, brothers- in-law: Cal Wahlen and Larry Rashleger, and sister-in-law, Ellen Miller.
A Funeral Service for Harold will take place on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. There will be a visitation at 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private committal service for Harold will be held at Graceland Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
