Grace Navis' Obituary
Grace Navis, 81, departed from this life on Monday, October 15, 2007, and went to be with her Lord, whom she loved and served all of her life. She was born in Racine County on January 31, 1926, to the late Garrett and Ada (nee: Dykstra) Friesema. She lived all of her life in Racine. She was united in marriage to James G. Navis Sr. in Racine on September 27, 1946. Along with her husband, Jim, they owned and operated Jim Navis Insurance Agency for many years. Grace retired in 2003. She was a very active member of Racine Christian Reformed Church, past President of the Gideon's Auxiliary, and former Chairman of the Racine Christian School Guild. Grace was always a devoted wife and mother to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and helping others. She is survived by her husband, Jim Navis; children, James G. Jr. (Constance Cohen), John G. (Ruth), Keith A. (Kim), Ronald D., and Karen A.(Ed) Diemer; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Jeanette (George) Vanderleest; and one sister-in-law, Elsie Friesema. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Bob; and one sister, Clara. Funeral services will be held at Christian Reformed Church, 900 Illinois Avenue, on Friday, October 19, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Pastor John Bylsma and Pastor Henry Perez officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Friends may meet with the family at the church on Friday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
