Gloria Jean Hansen's Obituary
Racine – Gloria Jean Hansen, age 81, passed away peacefully at Ascension All Saints Hospital in Racine on February 6, 2025.
Gloria was born on October 31, 1943, in Racine, to Harvey and Eva Spang. She graduated from Washington Park High School, a milestone that marked the beginning of her vibrant and independent life. Gloria went on to have a long and fulfilling career, working at Modine Manufacturing Company, Webster Manufacturing Company, and eventually retiring from S.C. Johnson Wax, where she cherished the opportunities for travel.
Known for her spontaneous and outgoing personality, Gloria was truly the life of any gathering. She had an infectious energy and an adventurous spirit, living life on her terms, always with a sense of fun and enthusiasm. Gloria’s love of travel was one of the passions she pursued with zeal—whether it was a beloved trip to New Glarus, WI, or her pilgrimage to Memphis, TN, following the death of Elvis Presley. Her work with S.C. Johnson allowed her to travel to exciting destinations such as Hawaii, Portugal, Germany, and Austria, experiences she cherished deeply.
Gloria’s heart was filled with a deep love for animals and nature, a connection rooted in the memories of her childhood, spent on her family’s farms. She often found solace in the beauty of nature. She had a fondness for movies and music. She was a devoted fan of Elvis Presley and The Beatles, and their music provided the soundtrack to many happy moments in her life.
Gloria will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, Darlene Gryniewicz and Janice (Randy) Siepler; her sister-in-law, LaVerne Spang; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Eva Spang; her brother, Ronald Spang; and her brother-in-law, Michael Gryniewicz.
A Funeral Mass in her honor will be held at St. Louis Catholic Church, located at 13207 County Road G, Caledonia, WI 53108, on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery.
The family has requested that donations be made to H.O.P.E. Safe House Animal Shelter, 1234 Lathrop Avenue, Racine, WI 53405, an organization dear to Gloria’s heart.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the many “special angels” who supported Gloria over the years. Their care and compassion meant the world to her, and a special note of gratitude is extended to the staff at Compassus Hospice, especially Amanda, for their unwavering kindness and thoughtful care during her final days.
May Gloria’s memory continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew her.
