Gloria Mae Carr's Obituary
Racine-Gloria Mae Carr, 70, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, surrounded by her family.
Gloria was born to the late Donald and Eleanor (nee Robey) Peters on November 7, 1951, in Racine. She was married to her first husband, Dale LaFever, for 25 years and her second husband, Rodney Carr, for eight years.
Gloria attended college at Gateway Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She worked as a hospice nurse for 27 years at places such as Lincoln Lutheran, Society’s Assets, and Hospice Alliance. Gloria was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was crafty; she enjoyed knitting, quilting, and crocheting clothes and blankets for her grandchildren. She donated the clothes and blankets she made to various charities as well. Gloria also enjoyed gardening and baking treats. One of her favorite places to eat was Red Robin. Above all, Gloria loved her family with all her heart.
Gloria will be deeply missed by her loving children: Rodney Petersen, Wendy (Phu) Nguyen, Tom (Nicole) LaFever, and Angela Dietz; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Wendy Thorton; dog, Bailey; along with several other relatives and friends.
Gloria is predeceased by her first husband, Dale LaFever; second husband, Rodney Carr; son, Brian LaFever; and sister, Shirley Cassidy.
A celebration of Gloria’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Brian Crane officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service. Interment will be held at West Lawn Memorial Park.
