Gladys Konsin's Obituary
Mrs. Konsin, 100, passed away at Crest House in South Milwaukee on Wednesday, December 1, 2010. She was born in Jonesburo, Il, Union County on March 31, 1910 to the late Walter William and Augusta Francis (nee: Davis) Foster. Her birth doctor was Dr. Leander Keith, "Uncle Doc". She lived in Douglas, IL, and graduated from Douglas High School May 17, 1929. She went to Chicago and worked at Sears Roebuck Cosmetic Department until 1933. In 1933, she came to Racine for a one day visit, had a cup of coffee at Walgreens Drug Store, 201-6th St, and was talked into taking a job in cosmetics. She worked there from 1933-1945. In St. Louis, MO on March 31, 1945 she was united in marriage to Robert Konsin, he preceded her in death on December 16, 1997. Their first date was on March 31, 1940.
She was president of Ladies Elks Club in 1961-1962. She lived independently until March of 2010 at the home that she and Robert purchased in Racine in the late 1940's.
She is survived by a niece, Mary Ann Konsin; nephews, Steve Konsin, James Kotke, Mark Foster, Craig Foster, Carroll Wayne Foster; grandniece, Kari Kotke Patton. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Melba Foster Webb, Ivern Foster Keller, Fern Foster Kotke Zacharias; brothers, Lowell Foster and Paul Foster.
Funeral services will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home 1212 Lathrop Ave, on Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Holly Anderle officiating. Friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery-Hwy 32.
