Gertrude Kums' Obituary
Racine - Mrs. Gertrude O. Kums, 92, passed away at Becker-Shoop Center on Monday morning, November 13, 2006.
Gertrude was born in Koenigsberg, Germany on April 19, 1914 but had lived in Racine since 1956. In Latvia, she was united in marriage to Christopher Kums on December 23, 1938. He had preceded her in death on January 11, 2001.
Mrs. Kums was an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church serving on the Ladies Guild for the church and for Lutheran High School. She was also a member of the German Club. She was employed by Walgreen's for more than 45 years.
Gertrude is survived by two daughters, Marie (Wayne) Rumage of Arkansas and Sylvia (David) Krause of Racine; three grandchildren, Tamara (John) Marini of Racine, Brett Krause and his fianc? Nichole Landry of Massachusetts, and Shane (Mandy) Krause of Round Rock, Texas; and one great granddaughter, Madeline Krause of Round Rock, Texas.
Private services were held in the Wilson Funeral Home on Thursday morning, November 16, 2006. Rev. David Behling, Pastor of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, officiated. Private burial services will be held in West Lawn Memorial Park. Memorials to Holy Cross Lutheran Church have been suggested.
