George Albert Westrich III's Obituary
Racine-George Albert Westrich III, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.
George was born to George Joseph and Mildred (nee: Lawrence) Westrich on May 18, 1940 in Racine, WI. He was united in marriage to Karen Ellen Nielsen on September 21, 1963 in Racine, WI.
After high school at St. Catherine’s, George went to work for American Motors. He then worked at Bosch as a truck driver until his retirement in 2000. George was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan. He played 16 inch baseball in the old timers’ league and golfed for many years. George was a 40 year member of the IAMAW unions and was a former member of the Racine Fire Bells. He loved spending time with his family, who will miss him dearly.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Westrich; his son, Mark Westrich; grandchildren: Matt Westrich, Paul Westrich, and Brooke Westrich; brother, Tom (Sharon) Westrich; daughters-in-law: Michelle Westrich and Veronica Sowers; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Westrich; special friends: Dave Hassel and Don Nielsen; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
George is preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Westrich; sisters, Nancy Westrich and Mary Westrich; brother, James Westrich; and his grandson, Andrew Westrich.
A time of visitation will be held for George from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2017, at Wilson Funeral Home (1212 Lathrop Ave). Memorials may be directed to Racine Fire Bells, PO Box 081042 - Racine, WI, 53408.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Mareedu, Dr. Johnson, Dr. Bader, and Dr. DeCheck, the ICU staff of Ascension, and Ridgewood Care Center for their loving care of George.
