George Skow's Obituary
RACINE - George Dominico Skow II, 69, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2007, at the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare/All Saints.
Mr. Skow was born in Racine on November 19, 1937, to the late Dr. George D. and Henriette (nee: Bures) Skow. George was united in marriage to the former Keiko Kanehira in Racine on July 2, 1971.
Mr. Skow was a 1957 graduate of the Culver Military Academy of Culver, Ind. and had attended the Layton Art School in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960, serving in the Headquarters Troop, Third Recon Squad, 11th Armored Cavalry. George has been employed for most of his working life at Hydraulic Products Incorporated as a Design Engineer. He retired in 2000. George was a life member of the Culver Legion, a member of Christian the Fourth Guild of Aalborg, Denmark, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge F and AM.
In his younger years, he enjoyed traveling, especially in Europe and the Middle East. He was an avid reader and enjoyed learning about history, art, archeology, geography, and military history. George had a real thirst for knowledge. He had a love for animals, especially his three cats. George enjoyed taking weekend trips to Chicago, Ill. and Milwaukee with his wife. Most recently, he enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters.
Mr. Skow is survived by his wife of 35 years, Keiko (nee: Kanehira) Skow; his two daughters, Tomoe (Nicholas) Hill and Yumi (Army Sergeant Kevin) George; two granddaughters, Kaya and Hali George; on brother, Jon B. Skow; on sister, Wendy (Dr. Paul) Brown; one nephew, Carl Skow; and one niece, Wendy Brown. Many other relatives and friends also survive. George was preceded in death by his nephew, Jon B. Skow II.
Private Funeral services were held in the Wilson Funeral Home on Wednesday morning, February 28, 2007. Interment with full Military Honors followed at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation was private.
